Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Rings
118 pieces
“Start with a beautiful ring on a great band, and think about the wedding bands that go with it.” Trax, at the counter on 47th Street
100 lab-grown engagement rings, centers from 1 to 9 carats; ten say the center is IGI certified.
Most bought: the 1.50 carat lab-grown marquise, 259 in the year. The middle ring bought held a 2 carat center.
Every ring here holds a lab-grown diamond center: a diamond grown in a laboratory, the same carbon crystal as a mined one, just as hard, returning light the same way. The centers come in oval, emerald cut, marquise, round, pear, cushion, radiant and princess shapes, from 1 carat up, most of them 2 to 4 carats. Most rings are 14K gold, some 18K and a few platinum, in yellow, white or rose.

How big it looks: at 1 carat a marquise is about 10.5 by 5 mm, at 2 carats about 13 by 6.5 mm, at 3 carats about 15 by 7.5 mm. A longer or deeper stone reads differently.

How to choose a lab-grown diamond engagement ring
Real diamond or not, the shape, the center carat, the certificate, the metal and the band beside it
A lab-grown diamond is real diamond, grown in a lab rather than mined. All 100 rings here have a lab-grown center by the origin their listings print, and 24 set it between natural side diamonds. The marquise led the year with more than six in ten of the rings bought, the middle ring bought held a 2 carat center, and ten listings say the center is IGI certified.
Four picks from this page
14K Gold Lab-Grown Marquise Ring, 1.50 ct259 in the year, the most here: a 1.50 ct marquise, F color, VS1, yellow or white gold.
14K Gold Lab-Grown Marquise Ring, 2.50 ct72 in the year: a 2.50 ct marquise, small marquise diamonds on the band; IGI center.
14K Gold Lab-Grown Radiant Ring, 2 ct46 in the year: a 2 ct radiant, F color, VS, with a hidden halo under the center.
18K Gold Lab-Grown Oval Solitaire, 3 ct23 in the year: one 3 ct oval, F color, VVS, on 18K gold in yellow, white or rose.

Every count here is from the 100 rings live on this page on October 2, 2026 and from their own sales in the 365 days to September 26, 2026; each listing prints its price. A ring counts as lab-grown by the origin its listing prints for the center or for its diamonds. Its shape is the one its title names, else the center shape on its listing; a title naming two stones is toi et moi. Middle center and centers are the median and the range of the center weights the listings state; the share is of the 946 rings bought on this page in that year. 48 of the rings were listed after September 26, 2025, so their sales cover part of the year.
Questions we get at the counter
Is a lab-grown diamond engagement ring a real diamond?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is carbon in the same crystal as a mined diamond, 10 on the hardness scale, and it returns light the same way. It is not a look-alike stone. Only the place it formed differs: a lab, not the earth.
How can you tell a lab-grown diamond from a natural one?
Not by eye, and a pen tester reads both as diamond. A gem lab tells them apart, and its report, or an inscription on the girdle that matches the report, says which. Here, read the listing's origin lines for the center and the side stones.
Do lab-grown engagement rings come with a certificate?
Ten listings here say the center diamond is IGI certified, and none names another lab. Every US order also gets our own appraisal, listing the carats, grams and grade, and that is not a lab report. For any other ring, ask the desk first.
More questions we get
What is the most popular shape for a lab-grown engagement ring?
Here, the marquise: more than six in ten of the rings bought in the year. Of all the shapes it looks largest for its weight. Oval has the most listings, 16. Marquise engagement rings.
What carat size should a lab-grown engagement ring be?
The middle ring bought here held a 2 carat center, and the carat range bought most was 1 to 1.99, led by the 1.50 carat marquise. Read the center carat, not a total weight, which adds the side stones. No center here is under 1 carat.
Is 14K, 18K or platinum best for a lab-grown engagement ring?
14K for most: 75 rings here, and 95 percent of the rings bought. 18K gives a deeper yellow but scratches sooner. Platinum is white with no plating and the heaviest of the three; four rings here come in it. Rose gold is offered on 71 rings.
Can a lab-grown engagement ring be resized or returned?
A ring from stock can come back unworn within 14 calendar days of delivery, less 5 percent restocking and return postage, unless its listing says non-returnable. One made to order or resized is final: ask the desk which yours is and settle the size first (refund policy).
What wedding band goes with a lab-grown engagement ring?
One that sits flush: 12 listings here say their setting lets a wedding band sit flush beside it. A marquise or pear can leave a gap beside a straight band, which a curved band closes. See the lab-grown wedding bands.
How much does a lab-grown engagement ring cost?
Each listing prints its own price. It moves with the center's carat weight and shape, its color and clarity grades, the side diamonds and the metal. For a size or a stone not listed, name the shape and carat in the live chat first, or call or text 212-872-9692, where a person answers from 10 AM ET.
