An upside down diamond is set point up: the cone-shaped bottom of the stone, the pavilion, faces out, and the flat top faces the gold. The stone reads as a sharp, geometric point instead of a flat sparkle, and it flashes as it moves. Every piece here is set that way in prongs, and almost all are 14K gold; the cross ring and the Cuban bracelet are 10K.

What is an upside down diamond?
It is an ordinary cut diamond mounted upside down, its point toward you and its flat top down in the gold. Jewelers also call it inverted or reverse set. Seen from the side, each stone stands up like a tiny cone or pyramid.
What sizes do the upside down rings come in?
The 25 pointer bands run from size 5 to 12 in half sizes. An eternity band can rarely be resized, so measure on the men's rings page first. Most other rings start at 7, and a resized ring is final.
Are these lab-grown or natural diamonds?
Most are lab-grown, including every ring, chain and cross here. Six pieces say natural, the Cuban and black diamond bracelets among them. Two flower pairs name no origin, so text or call 212-872-9692 before you buy one of those.

Do upside down diamonds sparkle?
Yes, in flashes rather than a steady blaze. A diamond is cut to send light back out through its top, so a stone turned point up throws sharp glints as it moves and reads darker when it is still.
Can an upside down diamond chip?
It can, more easily than a stone set face up. The sharp point is a weak spot on any diamond, and here it faces out, so take your ring off for the gym and heavy work.
Which gold are these pieces made in?
14K, on all but the cross ring and the Cuban bracelet, which are 10K. On most pieces the gold color is your pick of yellow, white or rose. The mini cross offers yellow or white, and the Cuban yellow alone.
Are upside down diamonds for men or for women?
Both wear them. The rings and chains sit in our men's case, and the 25 pointer band in the women's case too, from size 5. Nearly every pair of earrings, and half the bracelets, sit in both cases.
Can I return an upside down diamond piece?
Yes. Pieces that are unworn, unaltered and never resized come back within fourteen calendar days from delivery, on an insured label the desk sends after a text or call to 212-872-9692 or a live chat. Refunds are less five percent restocking and the label.
