Sterling is 92.5 percent silver, which is what 925 means. The rest is mostly copper, and it lets the metal hold a shape and a stone. Nearly every piece here is listed .925, even where the title leaves out the word silver. Seven chains are titled Palladium Silver, an alloy their listings say resists tarnish. A few titles name gold or .999 silver instead, so ask us which metal you get before you buy.

With no chain of your own, buy the set. Look for Set or a chain's name in the title, or a chain length to choose, which most sets offer. For a deeper clean, wash it in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then rinse and dry it fully. Store it in a closed bag, and wear it often, since wear keeps it bright. Take it off before the pool.
