Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watches, Pre-Owned

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watches, Pre-Owned

13 pieces

“The Diamond District holds watches most people never get to see. It's a great place to buy, if you deal with the right people.” Trax, at the counter on 47th Street

Most of the seven Royal Oaks for sale are the Chronograph, and every one of them is steel.

AP is short for Audemars Piguet, said oh-de-mar pee-gay. Three of the watches for sale have the maker's card.

Pre-owned Audemars Piguet watches, all of them Royal Oaks: the three-hand Royal Oak, the Royal Oak Chronograph with blue, black and panda dials, and the sportier Royal Oak Offshore. Nearly all are stainless steel, with one two-tone piece and two iced-out Arabic dials. The Chronograph adds pushers and subdials to time things; the three-hand Royal Oak is the slimmer watch on the wrist.

Buyer's guide

AP watches: choosing a pre-owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

Three-hand, Chronograph or Offshore: which Royal Oak to buy, and how to read its listing

The kind of Royal Oak matters more than the dial, so settle that first. If you want one watch for everything, buy the three-hand. Take the Chronograph if you want the stopwatch and the busier dial, and the Offshore if you want the watch noticed. Then check the listing for the card and the box. No watch goes back once it is yours, so talk it through with the watch desk first.

Which Royal Oak: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph, Offshore or three-hand

Buy the three-hand Royal Oak when it will be on your wrist every day. It goes with a suit or a T-shirt, and with no stopwatch on it the dial stays clean. The Chronograph is that Royal Oak with a stopwatch built in, run from the pushers beside the crown and read on three small subdials, and it sits a little thicker. The Offshore is the Royal Oak built heavier and sportier, most often with a stopwatch of its own, and it shows from across a room.

Reference numbers: AP Royal Oak 15500ST, 15400ST, 26331ST and the Offshore

Read the reference on a listing before the dial, because it names the Royal Oak in front of you. The ST after the number means stainless steel.

  • 15500ST: the three-hand Royal Oak in 41 mm steel. One is for sale.
  • 15400ST: the 41 mm three-hand that came before the 15500ST. Two are on the page, both sold out, so ask the desk to find one.
  • 26331ST: the Royal Oak Chronograph in 41 mm steel. Four are for sale, in blue, black and the Panda.
  • Royal Oak Offshore: the 42 mm Volcano in steel is for sale, and its listing names no reference. The 39 mm two-tone Offshore, steel and yellow gold, is sold out.
  • No reference named: the 41 mm iced-out Royal Oak, one for sale. Ask the desk for its number.

The code after the dots, like .OO.1220ST.01, names the setting, the bracelet and the dial. Where our 26331ST listings give the full code, .01 is blue and .02 is black.

The dial: blue, black, gray or Panda Royal Oak dial, and the Tapisserie

Pick blue, black or rhodium gray for a dial that wears with anything, or the Panda for a Chronograph that stands out. Most Royal Oak dials carry the Tapisserie, a fine grid of raised squares that catches the light as the wrist turns. The Panda sets black subdials against a white dial. Arabic numerals read louder than the stick markers most Royal Oaks wear.

Iced out: iced out AP watch, diamond Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

Buy an iced-out Royal Oak for the look, and know that the one for sale here is custom work. The diamonds on the case, the bezel and the bracelet went on after the watch left the factory, and its listing says aftermarket. That makes it a different watch from the one Audemars Piguet made, so judge it as a piece of jewelry. No listing names the grade of the stones or says natural or lab-grown, so ask the desk.

Card and box: Audemars Piguet box and papers, or the watch alone

The foot of each description says what comes with the watch, and it is the first thing to check. It runs from a complete set with the box and the card down to No Card / Papers, where the watch comes alone and a box can be added. The card, or the papers, is the maker's record of that watch and its serial, and it makes the history easier to trace. Where a listing gives no year, or only a range, ask the desk what dates the watch.

Before you pay: questions for the watch desk, shipping and final sale

Our refund policy takes no watch back, so every question belongs before the order. Name the Royal Oak you are looking at on the live chat, or text its reference to the watch desk at 212-872-9692, which takes calls too, from 10 AM ET. Ask for its service history, and send your wrist size, because the spare links that travel with a pre-owned bracelet differ from watch to watch. A watch in stock is usually packed and sent within two to five business days, the shipping policy says, and it travels insured. The desk also hunts through the trade for a Royal Oak we do not have, by reference or by dial.

Every count on this card is from the 13 watches live here on October 2, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to September 26, 2026; prices are on the listings. Seven of them are for sale; the six sold-out listings have no row. The Panda's year is the range its listing gives.

Questions we get at the counter

What is an AP watch?

An AP watch is an Audemars Piguet, the Swiss watchmaker whose initials most buyers use as its name. Every AP here is a pre-owned Royal Oak, from the plain three-hand to the sportier Offshore, and each listing is one watch, gone once it sells.

How do you pronounce Audemars Piguet?

Say it oh-de-mar pee-gay, and leave the s of Audemars silent. People who have only heard the name often search for o de mars piguet, and most buyers skip it all and say AP.

Which Royal Oak makes the best first AP?

The three-hand Royal Oak, if it is to be your only fine watch, because its plain dial goes with everything. The Chronograph suits a buyer who will use the stopwatch or likes a busier dial, and it wears a little thicker on the wrist.

More questions we get

How is the Royal Oak Offshore different from the Royal Oak?

The Offshore is the louder of the two, with a thicker, sportier case that often rides a rubber strap instead of the steel bracelet. The Royal Oak stays flatter and dressier, and it slides under a shirt cuff more easily.

What does Panda mean on a Royal Oak Chronograph?

A Panda is a white or silver dial with black subdials, so the counters stand out like the patches around a panda's eyes. It is a Chronograph look, since a three-hand Royal Oak has no subdials to set against the dial.

Will my AP come with its box and papers?

Only when its listing says so, in the lines at the foot of the description. A complete set means the box and the card together, Card Included means the card alone, and No Card / Papers means the watch by itself.

Who set the diamonds on an iced-out Royal Oak?

On the one for sale here, a jeweler did, after the watch left Audemars Piguet. Its listing says aftermarket, which makes it custom work rather than a factory piece. Where a listing does not say, ask the desk, and ask about the stones.

Can an AP watch be returned?

It cannot. Every watch, an AP included, sits on the non-returnable list of our refund policy. First clear up the card, the year and the fit with the watch desk on the live chat, or text the reference to 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.
