For a ring that has to stay white, yes. Platinum is white all the way through, while white gold gets its bright color from rhodium plating that wears and needs redoing. Platinum is heavier and gentler on skin, and polishing renews its shine.

Nearly. Jewelry platinum is usually 95 percent pure, hardened with a little ruthenium or iridium. A PT950 or PLAT stamp, inside a ring or on the bail, depends on the piece. No listing here says if one is stamped, so ask us before you pay.
Usually, by a jeweler who works platinum, since it melts far hotter than gold. A ring with stones all the way around usually cannot be. Eight rings here come in a single size, and a ring resized for you is final sale.
