What is the difference between a Miami Cuban and a Cuban link?
Same family, different cut. Both are curb links, flattened and rounded. In the trade a Cuban link is the looser curb and a Miami Cuban is cut tighter and thicker, so the links lock into each other, the chain lies flat and turns as one piece. How wide should a Miami Cuban chain be?
Decide what it is for. Under a pendant, under 5 mm. Worn on its own, 5 to 8 mm: that band took about 46 percent of the Cuban money among the store's 400 best-selling chain titles in the past year. Worn bare as the piece, 8 to 11 mm. Past 11 mm most pieces are one of a kind: most of the Cubans live here are that wide and only a few sold online in the past year, so ask the desk about stock before you order.
How much should I pay for a Cuban link chain?
What the gold weighs, at its karat and the day's gold price, plus the labor in the link, which on a Miami Cuban is more than on most chains.
