Start with the style, because this page is a mix. Wheat chains fill more than half of it, and they are what most people buy here. Take a solid 14K wheat under 3 mm for every day or a small pendant. For shine, look at the iced chains, and read each one's origin line first. For a Cuban or a Franco, open its own page, where the choice runs far deeper.
What is here: assorted gold chains for men, style by style
Wheat chains are the heart of this page, 23 of the 42. Eleven more are set with diamonds, most of them iced links near 4 mm. Four are rolo chains, round links strung in a row. The last four are single pieces, a wide mariner, a puffed link, one 14K Miami Cuban and a one-of-one Franco. For a deeper choice in those, open the Miami Cuban or Franco pages, and the anchor and cable page for the puffed link's cousins.
Wheat chains: round wheat, square wheat and diamond cut wheat chain
Pick a wheat chain to carry a pendant or to wear every day. Each one is small oval links twisted into a tight braid, so it keeps its shape and rarely kinks. The round wheat comes in 14K yellow gold from 1 to 2.1 mm, nearly every length on its own listing. Picture them at 18 inches. The 1.2 mm weighs about 3 grams. The 2.1 mm is nearer 8. The diamond cut wheat is finer and faceted to flash. The two square wheat chains are 21K, the richest yellow here and a softer gold, so hang only a light piece on them.
Iced chains: iced out diamond chains, lab-grown or natural
Read the origin line on the listing before you buy an iced chain, and ask the desk about anything it leaves out. Eleven chains here carry diamonds, and each names grown or mined on its origin line. The Stunner names lab-grown diamonds. The two ball link chains are natural by their write-ups. The other eight read natural on that line too, the Polar, Arctic and Super Iced chains among them. The iced links run about 3 to 4.5 mm wide, mostly in 14K. Their lengths go from 18 inches to 33. Nine of the eleven come in all three golds, yellow, white and rose. The men's diamond chains hold far more iced pieces.
Width and length: how thick and how long a thin gold chain should be
Go thin. Three in four pieces bought here were under 3 mm. Under a small pendant, 1.2 to 2.1 mm wheat is plenty. To wear a chain alone, step up to the solid 3.5 mm wheat or an iced link. For most men a 20-inch chain lands near the collarbone. A 22 reaches mid-chest. The 16 and 18 inch chains sit high on the neck, the way many women wear one, and our women's chains hold more like them.
