Diamond Stud Earrings

156 pieces

“Buy jewelry you fall in love with: something that makes you happy every time you put it on.” Trax, at the jewelry store on 47th Street

156 studs: one-stone diamond pairs, flowers, hearts and clusters, most in 14K gold, 2 to near 12 mm wide.

The 2 ctw lab-grown round pair sold most in the year, 179. A 3 mm diamond flower came next, 136.

Diamond stud earrings for women and men, most in 14K gold with 18K pairs and a few in .925 silver, in yellow, white and rose gold. Round studs lead, beside Portuguese, Asscher, princess, oval, emerald, radiant, heart and marquise cuts, halo and flower studs, black diamond studs and single studs for one ear. Lab-grown diamond pairs run from 0.20 to 10 carats total weight, and the natural classic studs name their color and clarity.

Lab-grown and natural are both diamond, the same carbon crystal, and your eye cannot tell them apart. They are priced differently: buy a lab-grown diamond to wear, since some jewelers do not take it in trade.

Buyer's guide

How to pick diamond stud earrings

One stone or many, then the size, lab-grown or natural, the gold and the back

Choose between one diamond and a face of small ones first. A single stone on a post is the classic stud, and the round lab-grown pair with a carat in each ear sold most here in the year. Flowers and clusters spread small diamonds wide, so they look bigger for fewer carats. Take 14K gold, then ask the live chat which back the pair wears before you pay.

One stone or many: solitaire, flower, heart and cluster diamond stud earrings

Settle this first, since it sets how big a pair looks for its carats. A solitaire stud holds one diamond in prongs on a straight post. That kind sold more than any other here in the year, nearly all of it lab-grown. A flower or a cluster gathers small diamonds into one face, so it reads wider than its carats. Hearts come both ways, a heart-shaped stone or small diamonds set as a heart. The 3 mm mini diamond flower was the second pair bought most in the year. Black diamond, pink and canary pairs and a few gemstone studs are here too.

How big: 1 carat, 2 ctw and 4 ctw diamond studs in millimeters

Shop by the width, which is what people see. On a pair, ctw counts both earrings together, so 2 ctw means a carat on each lobe. The round lab-grown pairs here measure 5 mm across at 1 ctw. At 2 ctw they are 6.5 mm, the everyday size. At 4 ctw they reach 8 mm and get noticed. Stay under 5 mm for a second hole or a small lobe. A title that says ct each or pointer gives one stone, so double it for the pair.

Lab-grown or natural: are lab grown diamond studs real diamonds

Both are real diamond. Lab-grown pairs took most of the pieces sold here in the year. The middle lab pair carries 2 ctw. The middle natural pair carries half that. Natural stones fill most of the listings, above all the flowers, clusters and black diamonds. Seven pairs, halos and blooms among them, set a lab-grown center inside natural side stones. Each diamond listing says which. Most also print a color and clarity grade, usually D to H and VS.

Gold or silver: 14K gold, 18K gold or .925 silver diamond studs, white, yellow or rose

Start with 14K. It is harder than 18K and keeps a post straight through daily wear, and nearly nine in ten pairs sold here were 14K. 18K is a deeper yellow and softer. The five .925 silver pairs are all lab-grown, and the 1 ctw silver pair was the third most bought in the year. Nearly every gold listing offers yellow and white, and most add rose. If white gold has bothered your ears before, choose yellow or ask the live chat about the alloy.

Backs and buying: screw back diamond studs, single studs and the live chat

Ask which back a pair wears before you pay. The titles do not say. A screw back threads onto the post and stays in through sleep and the gym. A push back is quicker, and over the years it holds less tightly. Five titles here say single, one stud for one ear. Most pairs are made for men and women alike, so choose by size. The live chat can tell you whether a pair is ready to ship, or call or text 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

Every count on this card is from the 156 listings live here on October 13, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to October 12, 2026; prices are on the listings. One row holds each listing, the kind read from its title: a black or colored stone first, then the design, then the cut. Middle width is the middle of the widths the listings print. Share sold is each kind's part of the 1,512 pieces these listings sold.

Questions we get in the store

Are these diamond studs in stock?

Every listing here can be ordered online today. Ask the live chat whether yours ships from the case or is set after you order. In-stock pieces usually ship within two to five business days.

How big do these diamond studs look on the ear?

Read the width, which nearly every listing prints. For every day, 5 to 7 mm across shows clearly without shouting, about a 1 to 2 ctw round pair. Under 5 mm stays quiet, and from 8 mm up people notice.

Do diamond studs come with a certificate?

No listing here names a lab certificate, so ask the live chat which papers come with your pair before you pay. Most listings print a color and clarity grade, and the chat can say whether a lab report goes with the one you want.

More questions we get

What color and clarity are the diamonds?

Nearly every graded listing here sits between D and H in color, and most read VS clarity, then SI. On a stud, D to H all look white from across a table, so the size and the cut show more than the letter.

Is the carat weight for each ear or for both?

For both when the title says ctw, so a 2 ctw pair sets a carat in each ear. A title that says ct each or pointer names one stone, so the 1.50 ct each pair holds three carats in all.

Which back do the studs have?

The titles do not name it, so ask the live chat before you order. A screw back threads on and stays through sleep and sport. A push back is quicker to put on, and its grip loosens with years of wear.

Are these studs for men or for women?

Both. Most pairs here are made for men and women alike, and a round stud reads the same on any ear. To shop one side, open the women's studs or the men's studs.

Can I return diamond studs?

Yes. Unworn, unaltered studs can come back inside fourteen calendar days from delivery. The live chat clears each return first and sends our insured label. A five percent restocking charge stays with us, the return shipping is yours, and custom pairs are final.

How much are diamond stud earrings?

Each listing prints its own price, which follows the carats, the origin, the karat and the grams. Line two pairs up on those, then ask the live chat about anything a listing leaves open, or call or text 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

About this collection
ABOUT THIS COLLECTION

Stud Earrings: Lab-Grown, Natural and Black Diamond Studs

Diamond studs at a glance

  • Carats: ctw is the total for the pair, so a 2 ctw pair sets about 1 carat in each ear.
  • Size: a 1 carat round is about 6.5 mm across and a quarter carat about 4.1 mm, by IGI's widths; each listing that states a size gives it in millimeters.
  • Diamonds: lab-grown or natural, named on each listing, plus black diamond studs.
  • Gold: 14K on most pairs, then 18K, and a few .925 silver; most listings offer yellow, white and rose gold.
  • Setting: prong-set on most.
  • Some pairs are in the case and others are made after you order; the desk gives the timing for each one.

Is the carat weight per ear or for the pair?

For the pair on most listings: 2 ctw means about 1 carat in each ear. Some listings give the carat for each ear instead, and the title says which. Our stud earrings guide shows how big each carat looks on the ear.

Lab-grown or natural diamond studs?

Both are real diamonds; a lab-grown diamond is grown in a lab instead of mined. “Choose lab-grown if you want the look. Choose natural if the piece is meant to be passed down to someone you love.” Trax, at the jewelry store on 47th Street since 2004. How to tell them apart: lab-grown vs natural diamonds.

Which back do the studs have?

A few listings name screw backs; most do not say, so ask the desk which back a pair comes with before you buy.

Can I see diamond studs in person?

See a pair in person at our store at 64 W 47th Street in New York's Diamond District; text or call first and plan your visit. The chat on this page answers at night, and a person answers calls and texts at 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

Shop diamond studs

By who wears them: diamond stud earrings for women and men's diamond stud earrings. A smaller case of lab-grown studs is on lab-grown diamond stud earrings, black diamond pairs on black diamond stud earrings, and many small diamonds in one face on diamond cluster earrings. Every style of earring is on gold earrings, and lab-grown diamonds in rings, chains and more on lab-grown diamond jewelry.
