Buyer's guide

How to choose heart earrings, diamond or birthstone

Which heart to give, a diamond for every day or her birthstone, and how big to go

Decide first whether the heart is diamond or her birthstone. For a pair she wears every day, take a diamond heart stud. The diamond halo hearts sold most in the year, more than half of all the pairs that went out. For a birthday, give her month's stone. Every pair is 14K gold, and the everyday heart is 6 mm across. Ask how much diamond sits in each ear before you pay.

Which heart: diamond heart studs, clusters or birthstone hearts

For a pair she wears every day, buy a diamond heart stud. The two pairs that sold most in the year set small round natural diamonds in a heart-shaped halo.

A cluster heart fills the outline with tiny diamonds, so it looks bigger than its carat weight. A heart cut is one diamond shaped like a heart in each ear. The colored hearts do the same with a gemstone, and they are half the pairs here.

Diamonds: lab-grown or natural heart shaped diamond earrings

Choose natural for a mined stone and lab-grown for a bigger heart. Eight diamond pairs are natural. The lab-grown listings carry the most diamond, up to 4 carats. Each kind is real diamond. A mined one is rarer, and a grown one comes larger and cleaner. More grown pairs wait on lab-grown diamond earrings.

Look at the shape before the size. The two lobes should match and the cleft between them should be crisp. Near half a carat a stone, the outline reads clearly. A title's carat count may add both earrings together, so ask how much sits in each ear.

Birthstones: garnet, peridot, topaz and other heart gemstone earrings

Give her month's stone when the earrings are for a birthday. Ten pairs set one colored heart in each ear. Garnet sold most of them in the year, then peridot and the two blue topaz pairs.

On the usual chart, garnet is January, amethyst February and aquamarine March. Peridot is August, pink tourmaline October and citrine November, and blue topaz is often given for December. Morganite and white topaz are picked for color alone. Every month is in birthstones by month, with more pairs on birthstone earrings.

Size and gold: heart stud size in mm, yellow, white or rose gold

Take a 6 mm heart for every day. It reads as a heart from a few feet away and still sits neat on the lobe. The natural heart cuts are smaller, at 5 mm. The clusters and the bigger diamond hearts run 7 to 11 mm. Every pair is light, under 2.5 grams.

Each pair is 14K gold in yellow or white, and the colored hearts and natural heart cuts add rose. White gold keeps blue and clear stones crisp. Rose warms pink tourmaline, and yellow flatters garnet and citrine.

Backs and care: screw back or push back heart studs

Ask which back a pair has before you order. Only one listing names it, the 9 mm diamond halo hearts, on screw back posts. A screw back winds along threads cut into the post and holds all day, while a push back slips off sooner.

Prongs hold the stones on nearly every pair, so look them over now and then. A bent prong can loosen a heart. Some pairs are made after you order, so ask how soon yours ships. The live chat answers first, or call or text 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

Every count on this card is from the 20 pairs live here on October 13, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to October 12, 2026; prices are on the listings. Carats and widths are each listing's own, and a carat may count both earrings. One diamond stud pair and the amethyst pair print no usable width.

Questions we get in the store

Are the diamonds in these heart earrings real?

Yes, every diamond pair here is real diamond. Eight of the ten are natural, mined from the earth. The two titled lab-grown were grown above ground and are diamond all the way through. A mined stone is the rarer of the two.

What size heart stud earrings should I get?

Start at 6 mm, the width of nearly every colored heart here. A heart that size reads clearly and sits neat on the lobe. Go bigger for a heart people notice. The largest, a diamond cluster, reaches 11 mm across.

Which heart earrings make a good gift?

For a gift she wears daily, choose a diamond halo heart, the pairs that sold most in the year. For a birthday, give her month's stone, like garnet for January or peridot for August. Ask the live chat to match a month.

More questions we get

Heart-cut diamond or a diamond cluster heart?

Pick a cluster to look bigger and a heart cut for a single stone. A cluster fills the outline with tiny diamonds. A heart cut is one diamond cut to the shape, so its two lobes must match and its cleft stay crisp.

Is the carat weight for one earring or the pair?

Usually the pair. Several descriptions here say the weight is for both earrings, and one pair splits it evenly, half in each ear. Titles rarely say which, so ask the live chat to confirm before you order.

Yellow, white or rose gold for heart earrings?

Pick white gold for blue and clear stones and yellow for garnet or citrine. Rose warms a pink heart. Every pair comes in yellow or white gold, and twelve add rose. Choose the color on each listing.

Do these heart earrings have screw backs?

One pair says so, the 9 mm diamond halo hearts on screw back posts. The other listings do not name their back, so ask before you order, in the live chat first, or call or text 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

Can I return heart earrings?

Yes, within fourteen calendar days of delivery, unworn, unaltered and boxed as it came. The desk approves it first and sends our insured return label. Five percent restocking and that label come off your refund. A pair made or changed for you is final.

How much are heart earrings?

Each listing prints its own price. The diamonds move it most, grown or mined and how many carats, then the colored stone and the grams of gold. For a quote, ask the live chat, or call or text 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION

Heart Earrings in 14K Gold: Diamond, Cluster and Birthstone Hearts

Heart earrings at a glance

  • Gold: 14K on every pair, in yellow and white gold, many in rose.
  • Diamond hearts: up to 4 carats total weight, where the listing states it.
  • Size: up to 11 mm across, where the listing states it.
  • Some pairs are in the case and others are made after you order; the desk gives the timing for each one.

Heart-shaped diamond or a heart cluster?

A heart-cut diamond is one stone cut to the shape. A heart cluster sets many small diamonds into the outline, so it reads bigger than its carat weight.

Which birthstone is each heart?

Garnet is January, amethyst February, aquamarine March, peridot August, pink tourmaline October, citrine November, and many jewelers give blue topaz to December. Every month's stone is in our birthstone chart.

Can I see heart earrings in person?

See a pair in person at our counter at 64 W 47th Street in New York's Diamond District; text or call first and plan your visit. The chat on this page answers at night, and a person answers calls and texts at 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.
