Choose a thin chain first. Keep it under 4 mm wide, where most of the sales landed, with the fine Cuban and the palm link out front. Most chains here are cut long, at the length men wear, so measure your wrist before you choose. For most women, 7 inches sits right. Take solid gold for a bracelet you never take off.

Measure your wrist with a tape or a strip of paper, pick how you like it to sit, and read the length to order.
1. Measure the wrist
Wrap a soft tape snug around the wrist, over the wrist bone, and type the inches it reads.
Set the screen with a card first. Lay any bank, debit or ID card flat on the screen, standing tall, so its short edge runs across the box, and move the slider until the box is exactly as wide as the card. No bank card? A driver's license, metro card, gift card or hotel key is the same size.
Wrap a strip of paper snug around the wrist, over the wrist bone, and mark where it meets. Cut it at the mark and fold it in half, end to end. Lay the fold on the 0 at the top of the ruler and move the slider under it until the gold line sits on the two ends. The ruler reads the whole strip.

How do I clean a gold bracelet?
Wash it in warm water with a little mild soap, working a soft brush into the links, then rinse and dry it well. Skip chlorine and harsh cleaners, take it off for housework, and store it on its own so it cannot tangle or scratch.
