Buyer's guide
How to buy men's diamond rings
Pick the style and your size first, then the gold, then ask what the stones are
Pick the style first, and if you are not sure, start with the Cuban link ring, the one men buy most here. Order the size you measured, and if you must guess, take a 10, the size bought most. For a ring worn every day, take 14K. Most listings do not say whether the diamonds are lab-grown or natural, or whether the carat is the total, so ask the desk before you pay.

Find your ring size in a minute
Your screen becomes the sizer. Set it with a bank card, then measure the finger you will wear the ring on, with a ring that already fits that finger or with a strip of paper.
1. Set the screen with a card
Lay any bank, debit or ID card flat on the screen, standing tall, so its short edge runs across the box, and move the slider until the box is exactly as wide as the card. No bank card? A driver's license, metro card, gift card or hotel key is the same size. Without any card the circle and the ruler are not to scale: measure your paper strip with a real ruler and set that number in millimeters on the strip slider, then send it to the desk.
2. Measure
Take a ring that fits the same finger of the same hand the new ring will live on; every finger is its own size. Set it on the screen over the circle and move the slider until the circle just fills the inside of the ring.
Size 10, 19.8 mm inside
Wrap a strip of paper snug around the base of the finger, where the ring sits, and mark where it meets. If your knuckle is bigger, wrap it there too and take a size between the two, nearer the knuckle. Lay the strip along the ruler's right edge from the 0. Move the slider until the gold line sits on your mark.
62 mm around is size 10
Size 10: 19.8 mm across, 62.1 mm around. It is the most bought size here: 18 percent of the men's diamond rings sold here in the past year with a size recorded. 443 of the 578 rings here list size 10.
Between two sizes? Take the one that passes the knuckle and sits snug below it. A wide band, 8 mm and up, fits tighter, so go up a half size. Measure at the end of the day, at room temperature.

Questions we get at the counter
Are the diamonds in men's diamond rings real?
Yes. Every ring on this wall is set with diamonds, and no listing puts a look-alike stone in a diamond's place. Lab-grown and natural are both real diamond. For a grade, a report or an appraisal, ask the desk before you pay.
How do I tell if a men's diamond ring is lab grown or natural?
Read the title and the description for the word Lab or Natural. Only 120 listings say either way, half of each. On every other ring, ask the desk which it is before you pay, since the listing is silent.
What kind of diamond ring do men wear?
Mostly the Cuban link ring, the style men here bought most by the piece and by the money. After it come plain diamond rings, named rings, eternity bands and row rings. The single ring sold most was a small silver skull.
More questions we get
What gold are men's diamond rings made of?
Mostly 14K, on three rings in four, and it took about four fifths of the money here. 10K, 18K, platinum and .925 silver are on the wall too. For what the karat numbers mean, read the men's rings guide.
How many carats is a men's diamond ring?
The middle figure printed is 1.80 carats, but only a third of the listings print one. A Cuban link ring runs lighter and an iced out ring far heavier. Ask the desk whether the figure covers every stone or only the center.
What size do men's diamond rings come in?
Most come in sizes 8 to 12 with the half sizes. Smaller and bigger sizes sit on fewer listings, so read the menu first. Size 10 sold most here. If yours is missing, ask the desk before you order.
Do men wear yellow gold or white gold diamond rings?
Yellow, mostly. Where a buyer picked a gold color, seven in ten took yellow. The photo shows one color, and most rings come in all three golds from the menu. Ask the desk what finish a white gold ring carries.
How much does a men's diamond ring cost?
Each listing prints its own price. It moves with the karat and the grams, the carat and the stone count, and any custom work. Two rings in three bought here weighed under ten grams, so a light ring is where most men start.
