Anchor, mariner and cable chains are one family of oval links. The anchor link has a bar across the middle of each oval, mariner is another name for it, and the cable is the bare oval. Here they are gold, most in 14K and some in 18K, from a 1 mm cable link chain that carries a pendant to a 14 mm anchor chain necklace worn on its own.

How to buy a men's gold anchor or cable link chain
Pick the link by its job first, then the width, then the grams at your length
Decide what the chain has to do before you pick the link. A cable carries a pendant, so take a fine one under 2 mm. An anchor is worn on its own, so start at 5 mm. Then read the grams at the length you want, because two chains of one width can hold very different gold. When a title says neither solid nor hollow, ask us before you pay.

What is the difference between an anchor chain and a cable chain?
The bar. An anchor link carries a bar across the middle of its oval, and a cable link is the bare oval. Here the cable is the fine chain that holds a pendant, and the anchor is the wide one worn alone.
Is a mariner chain the same as an anchor chain?
Yes, mariner is another name for the barred link. One gold chain here carries the name, a 14K solid puffed mariner at 6 mm, its links rounded out. The silver mariners are on the men's silver chains guide.
Is a cable chain strong enough to hold a pendant?
Yes for a light pendant, the job a fine cable does best. No listing rates strength, so go by grams. The men's pendants guide puts a pendant under 10 grams on a thin chain and a heavy one on a solid chain.

How thick should a men's cable or anchor chain be?
Under 2 mm to carry a pendant, and 5 mm or wider for an anchor worn on its own. Nothing is live at 4 mm. Most buyers here went thin, yet the wide chains that did sell brought in close to half the sales by value.
What does a gold anchor or cable chain weigh?
Anywhere from 1.5 grams for the finest cable to 435 grams for the 14 mm anchor. The middle chain lists 44.2 grams. Always read a weight beside its length, and ask the desk when one weight sits beside several lengths.
Are these anchor and cable chains solid gold, 14K or 18K?
All 60 are gold, most of them 14K, with 14 in 18K and one each in 21K and 22K. Most titles say solid and one says hollow. A third say neither, and on those the desk tells you the build.
What length cable chain should a man wear?
Twenty inches for a cable, the length bought most here, with 18 next. Anchors went out at 24 inches most. Most chains come in one length only, so settle your inches first, because a chain cut to size cannot come back.
Can I return an anchor or cable chain?
Yes, unless marked non-returnable or made to order: fourteen days from delivery, never worn or altered, cleared by the desk for our insured label. We hold five percent for restocking and the label's cost, per the refund policy. A cut or lengthened chain stays sold.
