Men's Silver Chains

Men's Silver Chains

58 pieces in 9 kinds

“Buy jewelry you fall in love with: something that makes you happy every time you put it on.” Trax, at the counter on 47th Street

All 59 chains are .925 sterling. Take a Franco for a pendant and start at 24 inches, the length bought most.

The 1.2 mm solid Franco sold most here, 124 in the year, and the 5 mm iced link came next with 78.

Men's sterling silver (.925) chains in rope, Miami Cuban link, Franco and mariner, plus moon cut, anchor, paper clip, curb and box styles, from TraxNYC on 47th St in New York's Diamond District. Widths run from a 1.2mm Franco to a 9.5mm Miami Cuban, with heavy 20mm and 25mm rope beyond that. Franco comes solid, semi-solid or hollow, and gram weight is on nearly every listing, the same standard we hold our gold chains to.

Buyer's guide

How to buy a men's silver chain

Choose the link first, then the width and the length that suit the way you wear it

Pick the link before anything else. Take a Franco if a pendant will hang on it, and a Miami Cuban if the chain is the whole look. Silver lets you wear a wide link without gold's weight, so buy the width you love. Start at 24 inches, the length silver buyers took most. Every chain here is .925 sterling, and the desk will tell you the grams at your length.

Find your chain in ten seconds

Pick a length, a link and a width. The drawing moves; the button shows the chains.

Length

Width

A 2.5 mm Franco at 24 inches lands at the lower chest, the most bought length here. Weights at this width vary by build; read the grams on the listing. Across every link here, 48 chains come in 24 inches.

Show me the Franco chains Text this to the desk

Drawn on an average build; a bigger neck sits the same chain higher. The counts are the listings live here on October 2, 2026. Nearly every listing shows its width, length and grams; where one does not, ask the desk.

Silver: what .925 sterling silver is and how it wears

Every chain here is listed .925 sterling, the standard for a silver chain. Standard sterling is mostly silver with a little copper and no nickel, so most people who react to nickel wear it fine. It darkens as air and sweat film the surface, and a polishing cloth brings it back in a minute. The Palladium Silver chains say their alloy resists tarnish, so ask the desk how far.

Silver is a lot of bench work for its weight. Buy it because you love the piece. If you want grams, take heavy gold and ask the live chat which one, or phone a person on 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.

Links: which silver chain link to buy, Franco, Miami Cuban or rope

Take a Franco for a pendant and a Miami Cuban to wear on its own. The Franco is a square four-sided link that keeps a pendant straight, and it sold the most pieces here. The Miami Cuban lies flat on the chest and sold second most, 299 in the year. A rope is twisted strands that hide scratches. The moon cut is a bead chain cut with flats that catch the light. Mariner and anchor are one link under two names, and here the mariner chains run wide and the anchors thin.

Width and weight: how thick a men's silver chain should be and what it weighs

Most men buy thin, and about six in ten silver chains sold here were under 4 mm. The middle chain here is 4 mm. Go wider when the chain is the piece. A pendant under about 10 grams rides a thin chain. One of 30 grams or more wants a solid chain with weight of its own, and the men's pendants guide covers the bail. The widest Miami Cuban lists 141 grams. Many listings print one weight for a menu of lengths, so ask which length it covers.

Solid or hollow: which silver chain holds up, solid or hollow

Buy solid unless you want a wide look at little weight. Where a title says which, solid outsold hollow about six to one. A hollow link is silver formed around air, light on the neck, and a hard knock leaves a dent that is hard to fix. Compare the two 4.5 mm Francos. The hollow one lists 26 grams. The solid one lists 57. Many titles say neither, so set the grams beside a solid chain of the same width.

Length: what length silver chain men wear, 20, 22 or 24 inches

Start at 24 inches, the length silver buyers took most. The next is 22. Across the store, gold and silver together, 22 leads, so silver runs a step longer. The men's gold chains page shows where each inch lands and has the length finder. For a length the menu skips, ask the live chat first, or call the desk at 212-872-9692, where someone is on the phone from 10 AM ET. A lot of locks can be swapped too, a lobster clasp for a box lock or back. A chain cut to your inches is final, so settle the length first.

Every count on this card is from the 59 chains live here on October 2, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to September 26, 2026; prices are on the listings. Width and grams are each link's middle listing, the rope's without the two showpiece ropes.

Questions we get at the counter

Are these silver chains real .925 sterling silver?

Yes, every chain here is listed .925 Silver, the sterling standard. Seven are titled Palladium Silver, an alloy their listings put at over 90 percent pure silver. Whether those assay at 925, or wear any coat over the metal, ask the desk.

Which silver chain should a man buy, Franco, Miami Cuban or rope?

Buy a Franco if a pendant goes on it and a Miami Cuban if the chain stands alone. Francos sold the most pieces here. The Cubans came next, with 299. A rope hides the scuffs of daily wear.

What length silver chain should a man wear?

Twenty-four inches, the length silver buyers took most, with 22 close behind. A wide link wants the longer one. The men's gold chains page shows where each inch sits and holds the length finder.

More questions we get

How thick should a men's silver chain be?

Stay under 4 mm for an everyday chain or a light pendant, the way most buyers here did. Go to 5 mm and up when the chain is the look. Silver weighs less than gold at the same width, so wide is easy to wear.

Does sterling silver tarnish, and how do I clean a silver chain?

Yes, sterling darkens over time, and a polishing cloth or a silver dip brings the shine back. Pool water and sweat speed it up, so take it off for a swim or the gym and dry it after a shower.

Hollow or solid silver chain, which should I buy?

Solid, unless you want a wide look that weighs little. A hollow link is a tube of silver, light to wear, and a hard knock can dent it. Where a title names the build, solid outsold hollow by a wide margin.

Silver or gold for a men's chain?

Buy silver for the look you love, not for the metal. A silver chain is mostly bench work. If grams are what you want, go to heavy gold.

Can I return a silver chain, and how fast does it ship?

Yes, unless marked non-returnable, unworn and unaltered, within fourteen days of delivery. The desk okays it first and issues our insured label. Restocking takes five percent of the refund, and that label comes off too. In-stock chains usually ship in two to five business days, insured.

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION

Men's Sterling Silver Chains: Rope, Cuban, Franco & Mariner

TraxNYC carries men's .925 sterling silver chains in rope, Miami Cuban link, Franco, mariner, moon cut, anchor, paper clip, curb, box and rolo styles, in several lengths. Rope, Miami Cuban, Franco, moon cut and anchor each come in a run of widths, so you can match a chain to a pendant or wear it on its own.

TraxNYC has sold from 47th St in New York's Diamond District since 2004. If you need help picking a width or length, ask us before you order. When you are ready to step up to gold, browse our men's gold chains.

Looking for a thick or big silver chain? The silver Miami Cuban runs from 2 mm up to 9.5 mm, the mariner reaches 8 mm, and the rope goes to 20 mm and 25 mm. Most chains here are listed as .925 sterling silver, and a few Cubans, rolos and a flat mariner are made in palladium silver. No title here says plated, so a silver necklace for men from this case is real silver all the way through; the 925 silver chains guide shows how to check one.

Men's silver chains at a glance

  • Metal: .925 sterling silver on most listings, palladium silver on a few.
  • Links: Franco, Miami Cuban, rope, mariner, moon cut, anchor, rolo, paper clip, Byzantine, curb, box and skull links.
  • Width: 1.2 mm to 25 mm, most between about 2 mm and 8 mm.
  • Length: 16 to 34 inches, with 18, 20, 22 and 24 inches offered most.
  • Weight: on nearly every listing, from 5 grams for a fine Franco to well over a kilogram for the 20 mm rope.
  • Build: solid, semi-solid or hollow where the title says it; ask the desk where it does not.

Do you carry a silver Cuban link chain for men?

Yes. The sterling silver Miami Cuban runs from 2 mm to 9.5 mm, from a light everyday chain to a heavy one worn on its own, and every Cuban listing gives its grams.

Is there a silver cross to hang on the chain?

Yes. Every silver crucifix pendant and cross is on one page, some sold as a set with a Franco, Cuban or moon cut chain.

Is a sterling silver chain pure silver?

Not quite, and on purpose: sterling is 92.5 percent silver, and the rest is mostly copper, which makes it hard enough to wear as a chain. That is why it is marked .925.

Can I see a silver chain before I buy it?

Yes, at the showroom on 47th Street in New York's Diamond District. Some chains are made to order, so tell the desk which ones you want to see before you come.

For a width or length question, start a live chat on this page, or call or text 212-872-9692 (a person answers from 10 AM ET).
