Buyer's guide
How to choose a birthstone ring for women
Find her month's stone, check that it takes daily wear, then pick the gold and her size
Start with her month, then ask whether that stone can take a ring's knocks. Sapphire and ruby are hard enough to wear every day. Opal and emerald want a gentler hand and come off for the gym. If you do not know her month, go with opal, nearly half the rings bought here. Most of the gold rings are 14K, the harder alloy for a ring she never takes off.

Find your ring size in a minute
Your screen becomes the sizer. Set it with a bank card, then measure the finger you will wear the ring on, with a ring that already fits that finger or with a strip of paper.
1. Set the screen with a card
Lay any bank, debit or ID card flat on the screen, standing tall, so its short edge runs across the box, and move the slider until the box is exactly as wide as the card. No bank card? A driver's license, metro card, gift card or hotel key is the same size. Without any card the circle and the ruler are not to scale: measure your paper strip with a real ruler and set that number in millimeters on the strip slider, then send it to the desk.
2. Measure
Take a ring that fits the same finger of the same hand the new ring will live on; every finger is its own size. Set it on the screen over the circle and move the slider until the circle just fills the inside of the ring.
Size 6, 16.5 mm inside
Wrap a strip of paper snug around the base of the finger, where the ring sits, and mark where it meets. If your knuckle is bigger, wrap it there too and take a size between the two, nearer the knuckle. Lay the strip along the ruler's right edge from the 0. Move the slider until the gold line sits on your mark.
52 mm around is size 6
Size 6: 16.5 mm across, 51.9 mm around. It is the most bought size here: 21 of the 63 women's birthstone rings sold here in the past year with a size recorded. 51 of the 59 rings here list size 6.
Between two sizes? Take the one that passes the knuckle and sits snug below it. A wide band, 8 mm and up, fits tighter, so go up a half size. Measure at the end of the day, at room temperature.

Every count on this card is from the 59 rings live here on September 26, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to that day; prices are on the listings. Hardness is the scratch scale jewelers use, diamond at 10. March's aquamarine, June's synthetic alexandrite and December's tanzanite have one ring each and sit outside the rows. April and August have no ring of their own.
Questions we get in the store
What is the birthstone for each month?
Garnet for January, amethyst for February, aquamarine for March and diamond for April. Emerald for May, pearl or alexandrite for June, ruby for July, peridot for August. Sapphire for September, opal or tourmaline for October, topaz or citrine for November, tanzanite or turquoise for December.
Which birthstone is best for a ring worn every day?
Sapphire or ruby, the hardest birthstones after diamond. Both rate 9 on the jeweler's hardness scale, so knocks rarely mark them. Topaz, amethyst and citrine wear well with some care, while opal, pearl and emerald should come off before rough work.
Are the stones in these birthstone rings natural or lab-made?
Nearly every title is silent on it, so ask us before you buy. The one title that does say is the alexandrite solitaire, which is synthetic, grown in a lab. Several descriptions call their stone natural, and the two pearl rings carry lab-grown diamonds.
More questions we get
Can I get a birthstone ring in white, yellow or rose gold?
Yes, every gold ring here lets you choose yellow, white or rose gold on the listing. The three sterling silver rings come in silver alone. Rose gold warms a pink or purple stone, and white gold suits the blues.
What ring size should I order for a birthstone ring gift?
Order the size of a ring she already wears on that finger, measured at a jeweler. Most listings here offer half sizes. A few come in a single size, so check the listing, and ask us about resizing before you order.
Is a birthstone ring a good gift for a mother?
Yes, and the classic mother's ring carries one stone for each of her children. Ask us for one as custom work. Every ring here holds one kind of colored stone, often beside diamonds, so each suits a gift for her own month.
Can a birthstone ring be an engagement ring?
Yes. Eleven rings here are made as engagement rings, most of them a single colored stone in prongs. All are 14K gold. For a ring worn for decades, the emerald-cut ruby holds up best, and any sapphire ring here is just as hard.
Can I return a birthstone ring?
Yes, for fourteen days from delivery, unworn and unaltered. The live chat clears a birthstone ring's return, and so does a text to 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET; it travels on our insured label. Our refund policy subtracts that label and a five percent restocking fee, and resizing makes the sale final.
