What is the difference between an engagement ring and a diamond ring?
An engagement ring is built around one center stone; a diamond ring with no other job is worn for its own look, a cocktail ring or a band. Lab-grown or natural for a women's diamond ring?
Lab-grown when the money should buy a bigger stone, natural for the rarer stone; nearly four in five of this page's money went lab-grown in the year. Both are diamonds under one grading; a grown stone costs a fraction, so the grown centers here run near two and a half carats, the natural near one and a tenth. 14K, 18K or platinum for a women's diamond ring?
14K, for anything worn daily: a little under three fifths gold, harder than 18K, about two of every three rings here and more than four fifths of the money. 18K is three quarters gold, a deeper yellow in a softer metal: one ring in four here, about a seventh of the money. Platinum is heaviest and white without plating, about six in ten heavier than the same ring in 14K, a third than in 18K: one ring in eleven here, under one percent of the year's money.
White gold, yellow gold or rose gold?
Pick the color by what she already wears; about nine listings in ten here offer the choice, and the karat, not the color, decides the wear. Yellow and rose are the alloy's own color and stay so. Eternity band or wedding band?
An eternity band when she wants stones the whole way round and the size is certain; a wedding band when the ring may need resizing or takes hard wear. Set all round, an eternity band has no bare metal to cut, so it usually cannot be resized. Can a diamond ring be resized?
It depends on the setting: a plain shank moves the most, a channel-set ring only a little, and an eternity band usually not at all. Closing or opening a channel-set shank pulls the channel walls and can loosen the stones; a pave band gives a little.
