Pick the symbol first, then keep it small. The ankh, the Egyptian cross with a loop at the top, sold most here in the past year, and the small pharaoh came next. Nearly nine in ten pieces bought hung an inch and a half tall or less. The big pharaoh heads are heavy chest pieces that need a strong chain, so ask the live chat to match one before you pay.
Which symbol: ankh necklace, pharaoh and King Tut, Eye of Horus and pyramid pendants
Start with the ankh for a piece you wear every day. It is the old Egyptian sign for life, and six of every ten pendants bought from this page in the past year were ankhs. The pharaoh, often named King Tut, took nearly all the rest. The Eye of Horus, an old sign of protection, is set with diamonds on all seven. Four pharaohs turn dark with a skeleton face or a hidden skull, and skull pendants has more.
How big: ankh and pharaoh pendant size in inches and grams
Buy an inch and a half tall for daily wear. All but four pieces sold in the year hung that tall or less, and about half weighed under 6 grams. The middle listing stands 2.25 inches, so the case runs bigger than what people take home. The big pharaoh heads hang 2.4 to 3.75 inches and weigh 50 grams and up. Three heavy King Tut heads print no height, so ask for it before you pay.
Gold and diamonds: 10K or 14K, yellow, white or rose, natural or lab-grown
Choose 14K if the pendant will stay on day and night. Two in three listings are 14K. 10K carries less gold, so its yellow reads paler, yet it sold nearly as many pieces. On 39 of the 43 gold listings you pick yellow, white or rose. Three are .925 silver instead of gold.
About seven in ten carry diamonds. The three lab-grown pieces say so in their titles, and every other one that prints an origin reads natural, most often G color. One mini zombie pharaoh wears black diamonds.
The chain: what chain an ankh or King Tut pendant hangs on, and the two sets
Plan on a chain of your own. Only two come as sets with their own chain, the silver King Tut and a 10K ankh. Every other piece hangs alone, so measure your chain's width and the live chat checks the bail clears it. Under 10 grams, a 2.5 to 4 mm chain carries it. A head past 30 grams wants 6 mm or wider, a Miami Cuban or a Franco.
Buying: the Mystique ankh, custom Egyptian pieces and returns
The Mystique ankh is the store's own design in 14K, 1.5 inches tall or a large 3 inches. About a third of the listings say Custom in the title, mostly big pharaohs and Eye of Horus pieces. For a design of your own, start at custom pendants.
