How to choose an animal pendant for men or women

Pick who wears it and the animal, then silver or gold, the size and the chain

Decide who wears it before you pick the animal, because the men's and the women's pieces here run to very different sizes. A men's head is big and heavy, often past an inch wide. The women's pieces, led by the teddy bears, sit smaller and weigh little. If you are unsure, start in sterling silver. It is a small part of the wall and most of what people took home.

For him or for her: animal pendants for men and for women

Take the men's case for a big head and the women's case for something small. Most of this wall is the men's side, with eagles, tigers, gorillas and dogs cast heavy, mostly in gold. About a fifth of the pieces sit in the women's case. The teddy bears lead there, joined by elephants, cats, bees, turtles, an owl and pet portraits. Which animal: eagle claw, eagle, tiger head, teddy bear and turtle pendants

Start with the eagle claw if you want the piece most buyers picked. That one sterling claw gripping a tiger's eye was more than half of all the pieces bought in the year. The eagles and the tiger heads come next, and the ones people bought were mostly silver or 10K gold. For her, the teddy bear has the deepest shelf, and six of the eight bears sold. A baby turtle with an opal shell, sold with its chain, led the pieces found only in the women's case. Lions are few on this wall, and the lion pendants hold many more.

Silver or gold: sterling silver or 14K gold animal pendants

Begin in sterling silver for a first animal or a gift. Silver fills only twenty spots on the wall. Even so, four pieces in five that people bought were silver. Choose gold when the piece should carry weight. Most of the gold here is 14K. Nearly nine gold pieces in ten come in yellow, rose or white. 10K holds less gold and wears a shade paler. Few titles name the karat, so check the metal line on each listing.

How big: animal pendant sizes in inches and grams

Men's heads run big and the women's pieces run small, so read the width before you fall for the animal. The middle men's head is about 1.4 inches wide. It weighs near 44 grams, a piece that shows across a room and wants a strong chain. The middle women's piece is near three quarters of an inch wide. Most women's pieces weigh under 15 grams, light enough to wear every day. People bought small on both sides, and most pieces sold were under an inch wide. A head stands taller than it is wide, and nearly every listing prints its size and its grams.

Stones and chains: diamond animal pendants, pet portrait pendants and chain sets

Nearly every listing says whether the diamonds are lab-grown or natural, natural on 89 of the 106. Diamonds are set on many of these, and on nearly every teddy bear. Sapphire is the colored stone set most, from a blue hawk to an owl with green sapphire eyes. For your own pet, three pieces here frame its photo, and the photo pendants hold more. Most pendants come without a chain. The sets carry one, and most let you pick a length from 18 to 24 inches.

Yes, twenty-eight pieces sit in the women's case. The teddy bears lead there, with turtles, bees, a kitty and pet portraits beside them. Most are under an inch wide and light to wear, and many sit in the men's case too.

Are these animal pendants real gold or real silver?

Yes, every piece is real metal. Most are 14K gold, and most of the rest are 10K gold or .925 sterling silver, with a few in 18K. Titles seldom say the karat, so read it on the listing's metal line.

How big is an animal pendant?

A men's head runs about 1.4 inches wide at the middle of the range. The women's pieces sit near three quarters of an inch. Weight follows the size, and every listing prints its grams.

Which animal pendant sells most?

It is the sterling eagle claw holding a tiger's eye. It was over half of all the pieces sold in the year. Its listing asks two to three weeks to make one. A small 10K gold eagle and the silver tiger heads came next.

Are the diamonds lab-grown or natural?

Both, and nearly every listing says which. Natural comes up far more often than lab-grown, and both are real diamond. Ask the desk which one a piece carries before you pay.

Does an animal pendant come with a chain?

Most come alone. Eight pieces come as a set with a chain. Most sets let you pick a length from 18 to 24 inches. Bought alone, a heavy head wants a rope or a Franco, and a small bear suits a fine chain.

Can you make a pendant of my own pet?
