How to choose a hollow gold chain
How light a hollow chain wears, which links suit it, and when to buy solid instead
Choose hollow when you want a wide chain that wears light, and wear it on its own. Judge it by its grams, not its millimeters, because a hollow Cuban holds only about a third as much gold as a solid Cuban that wide. Keep a heavy pendant for a solid chain. For a first hollow chain, look at a thin rope, the link shoppers took home most here in the year.

What does a hollow gold chain weigh at my length?
Nearly every listing prints the grams, clasp in. A Miami Cuban here at 22 inches runs from 19 grams at 5.5 mm to 85 at 12 mm. Where several lengths are offered, the grams are for one, so ask the live chat for yours.
What are the downsides of a hollow gold chain?
It dents more easily than solid, and a crushed link seldom comes back round. It carries less gold, too, so it is the wrong chain for a heavy pendant. Worn on its own and put away with care, it keeps its shape.
Is a hollow gold chain real gold?
Yes. Every chain here is 10K or 14K gold, the same alloy a solid chain is made of, with an empty core inside each link. No title says plated or filled. Look near the clasp for the karat stamp, 417 or 10K, 585 or 14K.

Can I hang a pendant on a hollow chain?
A small, light one, yes. A heavy pendant pulls on the links and belongs on a solid chain. If you are not sure, send the live chat a photo of the pendant and its weight, and we will match a chain to it.
Can a dented or broken hollow chain be fixed?
Sometimes. A jeweler can usually solder a clean break, but a crushed hollow link is hard to restore, and a bad section may have to come out, which shortens the chain. Send the live chat a photo first.
What length hollow chain should I get?
Take 22 or 24 inches, the lengths offered most here, and go longer on a big frame or with a wide Cuban. Eighteen hugs the collarbone and 20 falls just below. The chains here run from 16 to 30 inches.
Is the chain I see in stock?
Ask the live chat, and the desk will check the exact chain and length before you pay. In-stock chains usually ship within two to five business days. Most Miami Cubans here come in one length each, so ask there for another length too.
Can I return a hollow gold chain?
Yes. Ask the desk within fourteen days of delivery, with the chain unworn and unaltered, and it travels back on our insured label. Your refund comes less five percent to restock and less that label. A chain cut or extended for you is final.
