Buyer's guide
How to choose gold earrings
Solid gold or plated, which karat, the stud size, sensitive ears, stacking and care
Gold earrings here are karat gold: 481 of the 493 pieces are 10K, 14K or 18K, and no title says plated. Most are 14K, which made up 73 percent of the pieces bought in the year. Flowers and studs led what people bought. On a stud, Ctw in the title is the carat for the pair: 2 Ctw is one carat in each ear, about 6.5 mm across.

Every count on this card is from the 493 pieces live here on October 2, 2026 and what this page sold in the year to September 26, 2026; prices are on the listings. The table counts the 64 single-stone diamond stud pairs, five of them sterling silver: titles that name the cut, solitaire, classic, prong, the pointer or the carat, and no halo, cluster, flower or novelty shape. The carat is the title's, else the listing's diamond weight. Widths are round diamonds face up, from IGI's chart in our stud guide; another cut or a deep stone can measure differently.
Questions we get in the store
Are these gold earrings solid gold or plated?
Karat gold: 481 of the 493 pieces here list 10K, 14K or 18K, and no title says plated, filled or vermeil. Five sterling silver pairs say silver in the title. Plating is a thin coat over another metal, and it wears through.
How can I tell if gold earrings are real?
Read the stamp with a loupe: 14K or 585, 18K or 750, 10K or 417. Then weigh the pair against the grams on its listing. A magnet should not pull it, and grey or red showing where it rubs means plated. How to tell.
Are gold earrings good for sensitive ears?
It depends on the alloy and the post. Few of our listings name the metal of the post, so ask the desk before you order. Some white gold alloys use nickel; if nickel bothers you, ask which alloy a pair uses.
More questions we get
Which karat is best for earrings worn every day?
14K for most people. At 58.3 percent gold it is warm in color and tough enough to wear daily, and it was 73 percent of the pieces bought here. 10K is harder and paler. 18K, at 75 percent gold, is softer and marks sooner.
How do you stack gold earrings?
Keep your main pair, a stud or a flower, on the lobe. Add a hoop or huggie of 13 to 15 mm, then a tiny stud higher up, like the 3 mm mini diamond flower. Light pairs stack best; most sold here weigh under 2 grams.
How do you clean gold earrings?
Soak them ten minutes in warm water with a few drops of dish soap, brush behind the stones and along the post, rinse over a strainer and dry an hour. Check that the backs still grip. No toothpaste or bleach. The full method.
Do gold earrings come with a warranty?
Report a manufacturing defect within 7 days of delivery and we assess it, then repair or remake the pair where it applies. A plan added at checkout covers manufacturing defects for 30, 180 or 365 days, not wear, accidents or loss. Warranty terms.
Can I return gold earrings?
Yes, unworn, within 14 days of delivery, on our insured label; start on the live chat, or call 212-872-9692, picked up from 10 AM ET. We keep 5 percent as a restocking fee, and you cover the return shipping. A pair its listing marks non-returnable, or one made or changed for you, is final. Refund policy.
How much do gold earrings cost?
Each listing prints its own price. It moves with the karat and the grams of gold, and with the diamonds: their carat, and whether they were grown or mined. For a quote on a pair, the live chat answers first, and 212-872-9692 has a person on it from 10 AM ET.
