Round yellow sapphire prong-set down a one-inch cross in 14K gold, 2.31 carats at 2.65 grams. Yellow against yellow gold is a harder combination to pull off than blue or pink — the stone can vanish into the metal if the color sits too pale, so this one is set in the deeper end of the range where it still separates.

Prongs rather than bezel, which lets light in from the sides and keeps the stones from reading flat against the gold behind them.
