Buyer's guide
How to buy a tennis bracelet, diamond or gemstone
For her, start at 7 inches. All 14K gold but one, and two in three carry diamonds, most of them lab-grown.
A rainbow sapphire row and a 5 pointer lab diamond row sold most here, 7 pieces each in the year.
Find your bracelet length
Measure your wrist with a tape or a strip of paper, pick how you like it to sit, and read the length to order.
1. Measure the wrist
Wrap a soft tape snug around the wrist, over the wrist bone, and type the inches it reads.
Set the screen with a card first. Lay any bank, debit or ID card flat on the screen, standing tall, so its short edge runs across the box, and move the slider until the box is exactly as wide as the card. No bank card? A driver's license, metro card, gift card or hotel key is the same size.
Wrap a strip of paper snug around the wrist, over the wrist bone, and mark where it meets. Cut it at the mark and fold it in half, end to end. Lay the fold on the 0 at the top of the ruler and move the slider under it until the gold line sits on the two ends. The ruler reads the whole strip.
6.25 inches around the wrist
2. How should it sit?
A 6.25 inch wrist with a comfortable fit takes a 7 inch bracelet. 75 of the 123 bracelets here come in 7 inches. It is the most bought length here: 51 percent of the bracelets sold here in the past year with a length recorded.
The counter's rule of thumb: measure the wrist snug, then add half an inch, three quarters of an inch or a full inch for a snug, a comfortable or a loose fit. Between two lengths, take the longer.

Questions we get at the counter
What is a tennis bracelet?
A tennis bracelet is a single line of stones, each in its own small mount, joined so the row bends and lies flat on the wrist. Most here are diamond, and the others carry sapphire, ruby, emerald or opal.
What size tennis bracelet should I get, 7 or 7.5 inches?
Take 7 inches for a slim wrist. Go to 7.5 for a fuller wrist or a looser hang. Measure round the wrist bone and add half to three quarters of an inch. Half the bracelets sold here were the shorter of the two.
Lab grown or natural diamond tennis bracelet, which should I buy?
Both are real diamonds. Pick natural if a mined stone matters to you, and lab-grown for bigger stones: the big diamonds on this wall are all grown, and the natural rows stay small. Half the pieces sold here were lab-grown.
More questions we get
Are these tennis bracelets real diamonds?
Yes, where the title names diamonds they are diamonds, most of them lab-grown and some natural. About a third of the pieces carry colored stones with no diamond named, so read the title and ask the desk about anything unclear.
What is a 10 pointer tennis bracelet?
A row whose every stone weighs ten hundredths of a carat, a tenth. The pointer sets the width, and those rows sit near 3.5 mm in the middle. Only a third of the titles name a pointer, so ask the desk for the rest.
Can a tennis bracelet be shortened?
The desk answers that for each piece, so put it to the live chat before you order, or ring 212-872-9692, staffed from 10 AM ET. Our refund policy makes a bracelet modified for you final sale, so settle the length first.
Can I wear an opal or sapphire tennis bracelet every day?
Sapphire, yes, since it is hard enough for daily knocks, the same as ruby. Opal is softer and holds water, so heat and hard knocks can crack it. Wear an opal row for evenings and take it off to wash your hands.
Can a man wear a tennis bracelet?
Yes, and most pieces here are made to be worn by men and women alike. A man usually takes 8 inches, and about a third of the listings offer it. The men's tennis bracelets gather the ones cut for him.
How much does a tennis bracelet cost?
The price is on each listing, and the stones decide most of it. A bigger pointer raises it the most, and a natural stone costs more than a grown one of the same size. The desk quotes it on the live chat, and a person picks up 212-872-9692 from 10 AM ET.
