2.37 carats of round red sapphire prong-set down a one-inch cross in 14K gold, 2.50 grams. Blood red is the deep end of the red range — further toward burgundy than the fire tones, and dark enough that it reads almost black in low light before opening up under direct light.
That depth is what makes it work on a cross. A lighter red at this scale washes out against yellow gold; a darker one holds its edge and keeps the shape of the cross legible from a distance.
