A rainbow line is the hardest color bracelet to get right — the sequence has to move evenly through the spectrum, and one stone out of order reads as a mistake rather than a gradient.
Channel setting keeps the surface flat and the stones protected, which matters more on a piece carrying this much stone across a relatively short length.
