Buyer's guide

How to choose a women's bracelet: tennis, bangle or bead

Order 7 inches unless your wrist runs small. Of the 258 bracelets here, 220 are 14K gold.

The black diamond bead bracelet sold most here, 128 in the year; tennis rows took over a third of the money.

Find your bracelet length

Measure your wrist with a tape or a strip of paper, pick how you like it to sit, and read the length to order.

1. Measure the wrist

Wrap a soft tape snug around the wrist, over the wrist bone, and type the inches it reads.

inches

2. How should it sit?

The link

A 6.25 inch wrist with a comfortable fit takes a 7 inch bracelet. 104 of the 258 bracelets here come in 7 inches.

Our rule of thumb: measure the wrist snug, then add half an inch, three quarters of an inch or a full inch for a snug, a comfortable or a loose fit. A link 10 mm or wider eats room inside the loop, so add a quarter inch more. Between two lengths, take the longer.

Questions we get in the store

What size bracelet should a woman wear, 6.5, 7 or 7.5 inches?

Seven inches, unless your wrist runs small or large. It is the length women chose most when a listing offered a menu. Bead strands and curbs went out at 7.5 more often. For a small wrist, a few pieces come at 6.5.

What size stones should a tennis bracelet have, 3 or 10 points?

Choose by how wide you want the row. A 10 point row runs about 3.5 mm, the middle of the tennis wall. Stones of 3 points give a dainty line. From 40 points up, the row is bold and wide.

Are the diamonds on these bracelets lab-grown or natural?

Both, and the origin line on each listing tells you which. Where it is stated, lab-grown outnumbers natural. Nearly every grown diamond piece says Lab in its name as well. If the line is blank, ask us before you buy.

More questions we get

Do you have opal, sapphire or black diamond bracelets for women?

Yes, all three. Sapphire is the colored stone you will find most, in tennis rows and bangles. Black diamonds are on nine pieces, the best-selling bead strand among them. Opal is thinner, only three. See women's gemstone bracelets.

How can I tell if a bracelet will ship fast?

Ask us before you order: the line by the price is a guide to the wait, and the desk checks the case. One in stock usually leaves us in 2 to 5 business days. For a graduation, put the date in the live chat or the checkout note.

Can a woman wear a Cuban link bracelet, and how wide should it be?

Yes, and keep it thin. The 3 mm diamond-cut Cuban is the second best seller here by the piece. It comes in one length, 8 inches, so ask us about a shorter one. The Miami Cubans run far heavier.

Does a tennis bracelet have a safety clasp?

Some do, and most listings never say. A box clasp with a safety catch is the one to want, since the catch holds if the box slips open. Few descriptions name a safety, so ask on the live chat before you pay.

How much is a women's gold bracelet?

Each listing prints its own price. The stones move it most, by their size and whether they were grown or mined. The karat and the grams of gold come next. For a quote on a piece built to order, open the live chat first; by phone, a person answers from 10 AM ET: 212-872-9692.

About this collection
ABOUT THIS COLLECTION

Women's Bracelets: Diamond Tennis, Bangles, Sapphire and Cuban Links

Bracelets for women, most of them 14K gold and offered in yellow, white or rose. Diamond tennis rows are the biggest group, lab-grown or natural; then come bangles, sapphire and ruby lines, pearl and gold beads, and Cuban, rope and curb links. Most tennis rows are listed at 7 inches, and 8 inches is the length the gold links list most.

Women's bracelets on this page

  • Metal: 14K gold on most; 10K, 18K and 21K gold, a platinum row and .925 sterling silver too
  • Gold colors: yellow, white or rose, offered together on most pieces
  • Stones: diamonds, lab-grown or natural, stated on nearly every listing; sapphires, rubies, emeralds, black diamonds, opals and pearls
  • Width: tennis rows 1.9 to 8.5 mm; bangles 1.5 to 5.5 mm
  • Length: 6 to 10 inches; 7 inches is the length listed most
  • Made to order: most pieces are made to order, and the desk gives the timing

How do I find my bracelet size?

Measure the wrist snug with a strip of paper, then add about half an inch for a close fit, or an inch for a bracelet that hangs. Most women wear about 7 inches; our bracelet size chart reads it across.

Can I personalize a bracelet?

Yes. For a name, initials or a stone of your choice, a deposit starts the 3D design, and nothing is made until you approve; the desk gives the timing. See custom bracelets for pieces made this way.
