What is the best silver jewelry to buy?

Start with what people buy most. That is the Franco chain crucifix set, 339 sold in the year, and the Da Vinci lion for a ring. A pendant set makes the easiest first buy, since the chain comes with it.

What makes silver jewelry good quality?

It comes down to the metal and the weight. Look for .925 on the listing, which means sterling, then read the grams, since a solid piece feels heavy for its size. Crisp detail in the photos is the last check before you choose.

How are the pieces in this collection chosen?

By hand. Nothing is added here automatically. Almost every piece sold in the year, and together they came to about half of what our Silver Jewelry page sold. That page holds over three times as many pieces, the newest among them.

Is heavier silver jewelry better?

Not always. More grams means more silver, yet most pendants and sets bought here weigh 10 to 30 grams, easy to wear every day. Past 60 grams a piece is for show. Anything that heavy needs a solid chain under it.

Is .999 fine silver better than .925 for jewelry?

For jewelry you wear, no. Fine silver is purer but soft, so it bends and scuffs, and a clasp made of it wears loose. Sterling holds its shape, which is why most silver jewelry is made in it.

How low will a 22 or 24 inch chain hang?

A 22 inch chain drops a little past a man's collarbone. At 24 inches it reaches mid-chest, the better drop for a tall pendant. Nearly every set here offers both, and most go as short as 18.

Can I order one of these silver pieces in gold?

Some, yes. The AK 47 pendant's listing offers a gold version on request. Three tiger heads can be plated in gold. For the rest, the desk will tell you what can be made, and gold work done to order cannot come back.

What if the piece is not right when it arrives?

Within fourteen calendar days of delivery, tell customer service what is wrong, at service@traxnyc.com or 212-391-3832. Unworn, unaltered pieces ride back on our return label. Five percent comes off for restocking, and so does the return shipping. Resized rings and shortened chains stay yours.
