An anchor chain takes its name from a ship's chain: sturdy oval links, interlocked. The anchor chains here are gold, most 14K with some 18K and 22K, mostly solid, many diamond cut to catch the light, in yellow, white, rose and three-tone gold, from 2.5 mm to 14 mm wide and 16 to 34 inches long.

How to choose a gold anchor chain
The width for a pendant or a chain worn alone, then the karat, the grams and the length
Most chains bought here were fine gold anchors near 3 mm, a width that carries a pendant. Take one in solid 14K yellow gold, fine enough to slip through a bail, at 18 inches, the length bought most. For a chain worn on its own, go to a wider anchor instead, and read its grams at your length before you pay.

Is a cable chain or an anchor chain better for a pendant?
A cable, for most pendants. Its plain oval links let the bail slide and sit straight, and the plain cables are on our men's anchor and cable chains page. An anchor's barred links are stiffer and wider, best worn alone or with a heavy pendant.
How thick should a gold chain be for a pendant?
Go 1 to 1.5 mm for a small charm. For an everyday pendant take 2 to 3 mm, and go wider only for a heavy one. Nearly two pieces in three bought here were 3 mm or finer.
Are these gold anchor chains solid?
Most titles say solid, and the one hollow chain is a 7.5 mm anchor. The five that name no build are the light anchor, an anchor set with diamonds and three with a barrel diamond lock, so ask the desk.

What length gold chain should I get?
Eighteen inches for most pendants, the length buyers here chose most, with 22 next. For a little more drop, take 20. Most chains come in one length, so check the listing before you order.
Is 14K or 18K gold better for an anchor chain?
14K for daily wear. It resists dents and scratches better, and it was most of what sold here. 18K carries more pure gold for a deeper yellow and wears a little softer. White gold comes in both 14K and 18K.
Can women wear these anchor chains?

Does a diamond-cut chain have diamonds in it?
No. Diamond cut means the gold links are faceted to catch light, with no stones set. Six wide chains here do carry diamonds, prong set, five in a barrel or lock clasp and one along its links, and each prints its diamond weight in the details.
Can I return a gold chain?
Yes, inside fourteen calendar days from delivery, unworn and unaltered. The refund policy holds back five percent for restocking plus that label. Cut or made-to-order chains are final.
