Description

Three carats of lab-grown pear, E color and VVS2 clarity, sit at the center of this Mirabella, with 0.70 carats of round side diamonds on a ring of 14K gold. A pear carries most of its weight in its rounded end, and its single point gives the stone a direction on the hand.

The details. The center diamond is lab-grown, cut as a pear, and weighs 3 carats. On the color scale E sits next to the top, and VVS2 clarity puts any inclusions at the limit of what a jeweler can see under magnification. The side diamonds are round and lab-grown, 0.70 carats together, E in color to match the center and VS in clarity. Each stone sits in prongs, and the ring weighs 3.70 grams.

Size and fit. Yellow or white gold, sizes 4 through 9, half sizes included. The point of the pear should line up straight with the finger, and a snug size keeps a center this large from turning to one side.

Care. Clean it in warm water with mild soap and a soft brush, reaching under the center where lotion builds up. Keep it away from chlorine and harsh cleaners, store it apart from other jewelry so the diamonds do not scratch it, and take it off for heavy work: the point is the pear's most exposed edge.
