Description

A 3 carat lab-grown marquise in E color and VS1 clarity, set in 14K gold with 0.45 carats of round side diamonds in F color. E is the second grade on the color scale, one step whiter than the side stones, so the center is the whitest diamond on the ring.

The details. The center is a lab-grown marquise of 3 carats. A marquise, also called a navette, is cut in a long boat shape with a point at each end. At VS1 the inclusions are minor ones, found under magnification. The side diamonds are lab-grown rounds, 0.45 carats together, F color and VS clarity. All of them sit in prongs, on 14K gold at 2.80 grams.

Size and fit. Sizes run 4 through 9, with every half size in between. Choose white gold to keep the ring all white around the E center, or yellow gold for a warm band beneath it.

Care. Clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, most of all under the center, and keep it away from chlorine and harsh cleaners. Lab-grown diamonds take the same care as natural ones. Store it on its own so the diamonds do not scratch other pieces, and take it off for the gym or heavy work, since a marquise is most likely to chip at its points.
